Hi, My wife is from the Toelle line (GGrandmother Martha Toelle Raffety b. 1905). Lizzie Grossen married Albert M Toelle June 11, 1909. I don't know if they called him Dutch. We have a Toelle family picnic/reunion coming up on the 27th of July 2014.There are usually 30-40 folks from as far as GA that attend. I will ask around and show pictures of the house and see what I can find out. You are welcome to come to the picnic.Let me know and I'll provide directions. I can be reached at: goyogosa @ hotmail "dot" com
Hello, I live on Toelle lane in Portland, Oregon. I just read an article in the NW Examiner (Sept 2017) about Bethany Cyclist. Albert "Dutch" Toelle was a cyclist of note for the day, 1905, and used to ride around his area. The article says his family moved from Kansas in 1880 to Portland and then to Toelle Lane in 1889. I'm interested in knowing where the mystery house is in the photo. My guess is it was very near my house. There is a barn over 100 years old on my neighbor's property. My name is Chris King and I can be reached at cdk@awwwsome(dot)com http://nwexaminer.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Sept-2017-small-final.pdf
Sleepy Meadow Farm is the Burkhalter family farm, located in Raymond, Washington.
This blog is a collection of photos and documents from family archives. My great-uncle (as well as a great uncle) Dick Burkhalter has been involved in organizing the family archives for the past few years. The hope for this online version will be to provide a more public venue for relatives to access these family documents.
I hope you will add in your own stories or comments about the items posted. Click on "comments" on any entry to do so.
And if you have other items to add into this family blog, corrections, or dates to add to items, please contact me at annalei(dot) burkhalter(at)gmail(dot)com or Dick at dburkhalterd(at)comcast(dot)net.
